Hotel Fusion
Designed a Boutique Hotel, known as "Hotel Fusion" from extensive design research. The hotel is located in the existing Bioinnovation center building designed by EDR in New Orleans, Louisiana. This hotel is designed for the Millennial Generation. Throughout the design process, the following design criteria were constantly being considered and incorporated throughout the design: local culture, eliciting positive emotional responses, providing multifunctional spaces, and incorporating social, intimate, and technological spaces. The four design elements of form, color, texture, and light were incorporated throughout the hotel to provide guests with enjoyable and memorable experiences. Renders were developed through the program Revit and edited in Photoshop.
Proposition:
This investigation explores the psychological effects of interior spaces in the hospitality industry in order to understand how the elements of design create memorable experiences to distinguish hotels from their competitors and increase repeat guests.
Research:
Lobby - Curved forms stimulate pleasurable reaction, orange and yellow increase cheerfullness
Social Lounge - Angular and asymmetrical forms influence socializing, bright and warm colors are energizing
Restaurant - Symmetrical forms are relaxing, red evokes hunger, low intensity lighting influence quiet conversations
Wine Bar - Rectangular forms are energizing, warm colors are energizing, dull surface textures are relaxing
Gym - Angular forms influence action, pink reduces stress, bright lighting is energizing
Spa - Curved form encourages a relaxing ambience, dull surfaces are more calming, pink and blue are relaxing
Guest Rooms - Low intensity lighting for calming environment, blue is the most preferred color worldwide
